“I began writing BECOMING REDWOOD in 2001. It was a major turning point in my life because I was finally able to articulate a part of my childhood not only in a story, but for a visual medium as well. I say in part because during the writing of the script, the character of Redwood took on a life of his own. He led me to Earl in the basement, the 16th hole at Augusta with Jack Nicklaus, a prison cell with his father and other areas of life I did not experience as a young man.”
